The 46-metre Water Tower, built in 1914, remains the most visible landmark in the old centre.
Castle and market town
The Posavje Museum occupies Brežice Castle, whose rooms include the painted Knight’s Hall. Collections trace archaeology, regional history and life in the Lower Sava valley. In the old centre, the 46-metre Water Tower, built in 1914 for the municipal water system, remains the town’s most visible landmark.
Rivers and thermal landscape
Brežice lies near the meeting of the Sava and Krka rivers. South of town, Terme Čatež is part of the wider thermal landscape that draws on local springs. Castle, tower and river setting together connect market-town history with the Posavje plain.
