Ten nave windows in Sainte-Croix Cathedral trace Joan of Arc’s life, and she came here to pray in 1429.
Cathedral and Loire
The Sainte-Croix Cathedral combines Gothic construction with later rebuilding; ten nave windows depict episodes from Joan of Arc’s life. She came to pray there on 8 May 1429, during the campaign that lifted the English siege. The Loire riverfront lies just beyond the historic centre.
Joan of Arc and Renaissance houses
The Maison de Jeanne d’Arc recreates the timber-framed home where Jacques Boucher hosted Joan during the 1429 siege. Nearby, the red-brick Hôtel Groslot, built in the sixteenth century, later served as the town hall and stands beside the cathedral.
