Rivesaltes → Nîmes

Roman landmarks

The Arènes de Nîmes is a remarkably intact Roman amphitheatre still used for public events. Nearby, the Maison Carrée preserves the form of a Roman temple, while the Tour Magne rises above the Jardins de la Fontaine, a formal garden developed around ancient remains and springs.

A walk through the centre

Link the monuments on foot through the historic centre, where Roman stones sit beside later streets and squares. The gardens lead uphill to the Temple of Diana and the Tour Magne; from the terraces, the city’s low roofs and surrounding garrigue come into view.
