Begin at Bulle Castle, built in the late thirteenth century and later used as the seat of Fribourg’s bailiffs. Its square plan and corner towers make it a clear landmark in the old centre. Follow the short historic circuit through nearby squares and streets to see how the town developed as the administrative hub of La Gruyère. The route includes markers explaining the dates and stories of individual buildings.
The Musée gruérien presents the cultural heritage of the region through animated models of Bulle in 1722, 1912 and 2002 and displays about local life. Its collections connect the town to pastoral traditions and the wider Gruyère landscape. The museum sits close to the old centre, so it pairs naturally with a walk around the castle and surrounding civic streets.
