The Museo Civico occupies Palazzo Arpi on Via Arpi, near the former site of Frederick II’s imperial palace. Its archaeology galleries include mosaics from the ancient House of the Lions and Panthers and reconstructions of the Hypogeum of the Medusa and Tomb of the Knights.
The museum’s picture gallery includes works by Foggia-born painter Francesco Saverio Altamura. Ethnographic rooms present rural furnishings, weaving, traditional clothing and objects from the Gargano. Together these collections connect the city’s archaeological landscape with everyday life in the wider Capitanata region.
