St Othmar’s Gothic tower rises above the compact old town, whose lanes are best wandered on foot.
Estimated journey times
The Old Town gathers around St Othmar’s Church, whose late-Romanesque tower dominates the rooftops. Nearby Mödling Castle ruins sit on a ridge above the town, with paths into the Vienna Woods. The historic lanes retain a compact centre of narrow streets, façades and small squares shaped by the foothills.
The Mödling Aqueduct is part of the 19th-century water supply system that carries Alpine water toward Vienna. Walk along the Mödlingbach through parks and vineyards, then continue toward Liechtenstein Castle in the nearby woods for a contrast between town heritage and forest landscape.
