Pause at Place de la Réunion to take in the painted Renaissance façade of Maison Mieg.
Estimated journey times
The Place de la Réunion gathers the city’s older landmarks: the richly painted Old Town Hall, now the Historical Museum, the Temple Saint-Étienne, and the narrow, colourful houses around the square. Nearby, Maison Mieg preserves a painted Renaissance façade. The square marks the former political and trading centre, so a short walk through its adjoining lanes gives a compact view of Mulhouse’s layered history.
The Cité de l’Automobile grew from the Schlumpf Collection and displays the region’s automotive history in a former textile-factory setting. Mulhouse’s industrial story also extends to the Cité du Train, a major railway collection on the city’s western side. These museums connect the handsome old centre with the manufacturing wealth that reshaped the city.
