Ratzeburg → Kiel

Harbor and maritime collections

Start at the Schifffahrtsmuseum Fischhalle, a former fish auction hall on the waterfront. Its exhibitions trace Kiel’s relationship with the sea, shipyards and sailing, including objects such as the Brandtaucher, an early submarine built in the city. Continue toward Die Hörn, the inner harbor where ferry terminals sit close to the central station. The route makes Kiel’s working port visible within the everyday city.

Rathaus and city centre

The Kiel Rathaus has shaped the city skyline for more than a century; its tower stands west of the old town and provides a landmark for orientation. Nearby central streets lead toward Alter Markt and Nikolaikirche, while the waterfront paths open views across Kiel Fjord. Combining the museum, Rathaus and harbor gives a compact introduction to the city’s civic and maritime history.
