The town museum in Pejačević Castle traces local history and the region’s tradition of working wood.
Estimated journey times
The Pejačević Castle was built from 1800 to 1804 on the site of a medieval fortification. Today it houses the Virovitica City Museum, whose permanent display explores local history and the region’s wooden heritage. The surrounding landscaped park makes a natural loop through the centre.
Look for the Church of St Rocco, linked to the town’s annual Rokovo celebration, and the historic Pejačević Palace. Beyond town, the Bilogora hills rise from the Pannonian plain, making the area a transition between Slavonia and Podravina.
