Wander Tyholmen’s narrow lanes among white wooden houses that retain the character of an old waterfront.
Estimated journey times
Start among the white wooden houses of Tyholmen, where narrow lanes preserve Arendal’s old waterfront character. The inner harbour Pollen lies at its edge, framed by quays and historic façades. Nearby, Kløckers Hus interprets local civic life, while the Trinity Church rises above the compact centre.
Arendal faces the Raet National Park archipelago, with Merdø and the twin Torungen lighthouses marking the sea approach. The islands reveal the town’s close relationship with coastal navigation and sheltered inlets. Back on land, KUBEN brings regional history and archives together in a modern museum setting.
