The red brick Cathedral of St Peter anchors Strossmayer Square, its twin spires rising above the town centre.
Estimated journey times
The red-brick Cathedral of St Peter, commissioned by bishop Josip Juraj Strossmayer, dominates the central square. Its twin spires and richly decorated interior make it the town’s defining landmark; the nearby Strossmayer Park and historic streets form a compact walk through the old centre.
At the State Stud Farm Đakovo, Lipizzaner horses have been bred since 1506, making the stables a living part of local history. The town also hosts the Đakovački vezovi folk festival, known for Slavonian embroidery, music and traditional dress.
