Pass through the Bargate and follow the medieval walls toward SeaCity Museum.
The Bargate, begun around 1180, was the principal northern entrance to the walled town. From here, surviving sections of Southampton’s Town Walls lead past towers, vaults and medieval gateways toward the waterfront. The circuit shows how a trading port fortified its land and sea approaches over several centuries.
At the SeaCity Museum, exhibitions interpret Southampton’s port and its connection to the Titanic, which sailed from here in 1912. Nearby Tudor House and Garden preserves more than eight centuries of domestic history within the old town, adding household life to the harbour narrative.
