The restored 1925 synagogue stands out in the centre for its distinctive architecture.
Synagogue and square
The restored Lučenec Synagogue, consecrated in 1925, is a major landmark in the centre. Nearby, the historic town hall was designed by Virgil Nagy and Viktor Kolbenheyer and completed in 1894. Their contrasting styles give the main streets an unusually rich architectural character.
A town on the Ipeľ plain
The centre’s public buildings reflect Lučenec’s role as a regional market town in southern Slovakia. A walk between the synagogue, town hall and surrounding civic blocks offers a concise view of its early-20th-century growth and Hungarian-Slovak borderland heritage.
