The Basilica of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary brings Gothic foundations and Baroque decoration together.
The Basilica of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary combines a Gothic foundation with Baroque decoration and is the town’s principal historic landmark. Beside it stands the former Pauline monastery, linking the church to the religious orders that shaped this part of eastern Slovakia.
The Topľa runs through the settlement, while the forested Ondavská Highlands lead north to the coves of Veľká Domaša Reservoir. The reservoir makes a regional outing for waterside scenery; closer to the centre, the basilica and its adjoining monastery provide the clearest architectural focus.
