Stroll along Main Street past Art Nouveau façades to the Rippl-Rónai Museum.
The Rippl-Rónai Museum on Fő Street explores the history, art and natural heritage of Somogy County. Its collections include works associated with painter József Rippl-Rónai, whose former villa on Róma Hill is now a memorial house. The centre’s broad streets also reveal late 19th- and early 20th-century civic architecture.
The Csiky Gergely Theatre anchors Kossuth Square with a richly detailed historic façade and a continuing stage tradition. At the edge of town, the ruins of Szentjakab Abbey preserve the site of a Benedictine monastery founded in the 11th century. Together, museum, theatre and abbey connect Kaposvár’s cultural life with its regional past.
