Roman Savaria

The Iseum Savariense presents the sanctuary of Isis in Roman Savaria; carved marble fragments illustrate the cult’s provincial role. Nearby, Járdányi Paulovics Romkert exposes other Roman structures and the settlement’s street plan.

Layers of local history

Continue to the Savaria Museum for archaeological finds that span Roman and later periods. The city’s long history also appears in the route of its ancient aqueduct: sections have been excavated outside the centre, and a marked cycling circuit follows its course toward the Kőszeg Mountains. Together, the sites link temple worship, water engineering and the growth of western Pannonia.
