Kotnov Tower survives from a castle destroyed by fire, while nearby Bechyně Gate recounts the town’s past.
Founded by Hussites in 1420, Tábor keeps a medieval street plan around Žižka Square. The Old Town Hall houses the Hussite Museum, whose underground passages follow cellars beneath the historic centre.
At the town’s edge, Kotnov Tower survives from a castle destroyed by fire in 1532. Beside it, Bechyně Gate presents the town’s history from prehistory through the Thirty Years’ War; together they anchor a walk along the former fortifications above the Lužnice River.
