Beside the Ploučnice, the surviving walls of Water Castle Lipý now host cultural events.
Estimated journey times
The medieval Water Castle Lipý stands beside the Ploučnice and now hosts cultural events within its surviving walls. The town’s oldest church, the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, dates from the 14th century. Together they trace the settlement’s growth from fortified river crossing to regional centre.
The restored Augustinian Monastery adds a quieter architectural stop, with cloister spaces and a history tied to education and religious life. Paths near the river and town parks provide an easy pause between heritage sites. The Kultura Česká Lípa programme often uses Lipý Castle for public events.
