The Evangelical Church’s tall tower watches over the square, while Sugălete’s arcades recall its medieval market life.
Estimated journey times
The Evangelical Church dominates the historic centre with a tall Gothic tower that was rebuilt after a 2008 fire. The surrounding square preserves the scale of a medieval Transylvanian market town, with merchant houses and civic buildings gathered around the church.
Along the north side of the square, the Sugălete Ensemble forms a row of medieval houses built around 1480. Open ground-floor arcades once served public and commercial life; the repeated vaults make this one of the centre’s most distinctive streetscapes.
