In Varosha, the carved iconostasis at the Church of the Dormition stands a short walk from the Saat Mosque.
In the old Varosha quarter, the Church of the Dormition of the Virgin was built in 1851 by master builders from Tryavna. Its carved iconostasis and Revival-era decoration are key features. Nearby, the Saat Mosque, built in 1722, is the oldest surviving building in town; its name recalls a clock tower that once stood beside it.
The Regional History Museum spreads across several historic houses, including the Slaveykov School, whose preserved Revival-era classroom evokes 19th-century education. Collections cover archaeology, ethnography and local history, including the tradition of the Targovishte fair. These stops trace the town’s position at a meeting point of Bulgarian, Ottoman and regional cultures.
