At Seetalplatz, the Kleine Emme joins the Reuss beside the old Emmenbaum crossing and riverside paths.
Estimated journey times
At Seetalplatz, the Kleine Emme meets the Reuss, a confluence that shaped local routes for centuries. A bridge over the Emme was recorded in 1236, and the nearby Emmenbaum inn became a long-standing stop for travelers. Riverside paths now follow the Reuss past the weir and toward the historic Rathausen monastery complex.
The Viscosistadt district reuses the site of the former Viscosuisse works, with the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts – Design Film Art occupying part of the industrial quarter. At Seetalplatz, transport infrastructure and new civic spaces mark Emmen’s role beside Lucerne.
