The compact old town rises beside Lake Mastis, with the two-storey altar of St Anthony of Padua Cathedral among its distinctive features. Small public sculptures, including bear motifs linked to Samogitian identity, appear along central streets. The lakefront amphitheatre and paths bring the water’s edge into the town’s everyday layout.
The Samogitian Museum Alka presents the history, natural environment and art of the region. On the lake’s southwestern shore, its Samogitian Village Museum reconstructs rural life with homestead groups, a mill and a smithy. Telšiai offers a compact introduction to the culture of Žemaitija.
