Dobele Castle stands on the left bank of the Bērze River, with a chapel reopened in 2020.
Estimated journey times
Dobele Castle stands on the left bank of the Bērze River. A Semigallian wooden fortress occupied the site around 1000 BC, and the Livonian Order built a stone castle there between 1335 and 1347.
The Semigallian stronghold resisted six attacks from 1279 to 1289. The rebuilt chapel reopened in 2020 as a cultural and tourism centre.
