Jomas Street is Jūrmala’s main pedestrian street and is described by the tourism office as the heart of the city. The Latvian word joma means “valley”; wind-blown sand formed the dune valley along which the street developed.
Today, Jomas Street is a centre of social and cultural life. Cafés, shops, street artists and cinemas line this central street in Jūrmala.
