Cycling legends fill KOERS museum, while the Rodenbach brewery recalls the city’s Flemish red-brown beer tradition.
Estimated journey times
Start at KOERS. Museum of Cycle Racing, where exhibits trace the sport’s history and the local champions who helped shape it. Roeselare native Odiel Defraeye became the first Belgian winner of the Tour de France in 1912; the Defraeye-Sercu Velodrome carries his name alongside that of local cycling figure Patrick Sercu. Routes around the museum connect the city with West Flanders’ cycling network.
The Rodenbach Brewery is closely tied to the regional red-brown beer tradition, matured in large oak foeders. In the centre, St Michael’s Church and the surrounding market streets offer a change of pace from cycling history. The mix of brewing, sport and civic architecture gives the town a strong sense of local identity.
