Walk the circular earthworks at Trelleborg, then step inside its museum for a closer look at Viking life.
Estimated journey times
West of the town, Trelleborg is one of Denmark’s ring fortresses from around 980. Its circular earthworks, longhouse reconstructions and museum explain the organization of Harald Bluetooth’s Viking-age strongholds; the site is part of the UNESCO-listed Viking Age Ring Fortresses.
South of the centre, Antvorskov began as a house of the Knights Hospitaller around 1164, later becoming a royal castle. Foundations and cellar remains reveal the scale of the former complex, once the order’s Danish headquarters.
