The Markt is framed by the Nieuwe Kerk, whose tower has long shaped Delft’s skyline, and the Renaissance Stadhuis opposite. Wander the canals to see brick merchant houses and arched bridges reflected in the water. The city’s blue-and-white pottery tradition is presented at Royal Delft, in a historic factory site.
The Vermeer Centrum Delft introduces the painter’s life and works through reproductions and historical context; it is not a gallery of original paintings. Pair it with a walk through the lanes associated with 17th-century trade and craft, then pause along the Oude Delft canal for a sense of the old urban fabric.
