Ruse → Dimitrovgrad

Planned town

Founded in 1947 by joining Rakovski, Mariyno and Chernokonevo, Dimitrovgrad was built as an industrial centre on the Maritsa River. The Historical Museum documents its construction and the youth brigades who helped build it, offering context for the town’s broad planned streets and socialist-era architecture.

Poet and memory

The House Museum of Penyo Penev honours the Bulgarian poet who lived and worked here. His writing and the town’s founding are closely linked, making the museum a focused way to understand local cultural memory beyond the industrial landscape.
