Walk through the square courtyard and deep loggias of the Palace of the Kings of Majorca.
Climb to the Palace of the Kings of Majorca, begun in 1274 and completed around the kingdom’s fall in 1344. Its square courtyard, deep loggias and two-level chapel reveal the architecture of a medieval court. The palace stands above La Réal, and the walk down links the royal complex with the older streets below. Nearby remnants of the Majorcan rampart preserve part of the city’s defensive circuit.
The Castillet, built in red brick and pale stone, is the most recognizable surviving gate of the former enclosure. Continue toward Place de la Loge and the Loge de Mer, whose Gothic civic architecture reflects the city’s commercial past. The cathedral quarter adds another layer of medieval fabric. These landmarks are close enough to connect on foot, making a compact route through royal, mercantile and religious Perpignan.
