From The Harris, stroll beneath Victorian trees in Avenham Park.
Begin at The Harris, a Grade I museum, gallery and library opened in 1893. Its neoclassical façade faces Market Square. Collections cover local history and fine art. Walk south to Avenham Park on the Ribble.
Avenham and Miller Parks form a listed Victorian landscape beside the Ribble, with Derby Walk, an Italianate terrace and a Japanese rock garden. Their paths mark the start and finish of the Guild Wheel, a 21-mile city circuit. At the docks, Ribble Steam Railway pairs a working heritage line with a museum; its route crosses a dock swing bridge and follows the river.
