From Chindia Tower, look across the Princely Court, once home to Wallachian rulers.
Estimated journey times
The Princely Court of Târgoviște was a residence of Wallachian rulers, with gates, churches and archaeological remains spread through a walled complex. Its best-known landmark, Chindia Tower, was built in the 15th century and served as both defensive structure and observation point. The site’s layers span several centuries of regional rule.
The nearby Royal Church preserves frescoes linked to the princely court, while Chindia Park follows the grounds around the tower and lake. The Museum of Printing and Old Romanian Book adds a glimpse of the region’s cultural history. Walking between these sites gives a compact route through the former Wallachian capital.
