Ludza Castle stood between the Great and Small Lakes, with six towers.
Ludza Medieval Castle was built by German crusaders in 1399 on a hill between the Great and Small Lakes of Ludza. The former castle was a three-storey stone structure of grey stone and red brick, with six towers, three gates and two forecourts.
The castle hill is a walking place in Ludza and gives views over the town.
