The Tiberius Bridge’s five Istrian-stone arches still carry pedestrians across the Marecchia.
Roman roads and arches
The Arch of Augustus, erected in 27 BC, marked the entrance to the Via Flaminia. Follow Corso d’Augusto toward the Tiberius Bridge, begun under Augustus and completed in AD 21. Its five Istrian-stone arches still carry pedestrians across the Marecchia.
Renaissance layers
The Tempio Malatestiano, redesigned by Leon Battista Alberti for Sigismondo Malatesta, encloses a medieval church in a Renaissance marble façade. Inside, look for works by Giotto and Piero della Francesca.
